Electronic Arts has confirmed that the next game in the “Battlefield” series, “Battlefield: Hardline,”.
This will be a police-themed combat game reported to be based around team-based heists.
Battlefield: Hardline will be available on PS3, PS4, XB360, XB1 & PC. The new entry is said to “put players in the middle of armed conflict where it will be cops and criminals fighting each other.”
The game also includes four soldier classes: Enforcer, Mechanic, Operator and Professional; and at least three modes: Blood Money, Bomb Squad and Carrier Assault. EA’s image above depicts a SWAT truck and robbers fleeing a vault. The unofficial Battlefield Daily twitter account has also dug up some strong evidence confirming Hardline’s heist theme: weapons like grappling hooks, a Hardline logo, and vehicles such as a police cruiser and SWAT truck.
The cops-and-robbers shooter is scheduled for release in fall 2014, according to an article on EA’s blog. EA says it will reveal more about the new game at the E3 conference next month.
Executive producer at developer Visceral Games Steve Papoutsis wrote, “The game launches this fall and it’s a brand new series in the Battlefield franchise, set against the backdrop of a genre we all love – the war on crime and the battle between cops and criminals.”
Steve also said – “On behalf of everyone at EA and Visceral Games, I’m fired up to confirm our next project – Battlefield Hardline. The game launches this fall and it’s a brand new series in the Battlefield franchise, set against the backdrop of a genre we all love – the war on crime and the battle between cops and criminals.”
A 7-minute gameplay video posted looked like a leaked reveal trailer under an “Omaha” codename. It described Heist, Rescue, Hotwire and Bloodmoney multiplayer modes, and a single-player campaign revolving around police corruption and drug cartel.
